This service is designed to provide a performance imagery basemap (on demand
cache) for clients that don’t support cached/tiled services. This service
comprises a 2.4 metre resolution orthorectified visual mosaic product over
Queensland originally acquired under the QSat initiative from Planet during
2017 Quarter 3. The visual mosaic product is optimal for simple and direct use
of the imagery and is designed and made visually appealing for a wide variety
of applications that require imagery with an accurate geolocation and
cartographic projection.Quality Lineage: The mosaic encompasses a single-layer
composite of multiple customised PlanetScope ortho tiles (5 km x 5 km) where
each tile is composed of the highest quality natural colour (RGB) PlanetScope
Ortho Scene product imagery acquired between 1st July 2017 and 30th September
2017 (2017 Quarter 3). Each PlanetScope scene used in the generation of a tile
may have been originally captured at a Ground Sample Distance (GSD) of up to
3.7 metres (at reference altitude 475km). Sensor-related effects are corrected
using sensor telemetry and a sensor model, bands are co-registered, and
spacecraft-related effects are corrected using attitude telemetry and best
available ephemeris data. The PlanetScope tiles are orthorectified and colour-
corrected (using a colour curve). This correction attempts to optimize colours
as seen by the human eye providing images as they would look if viewed from
the perspective of the satellite. The tiles are processed to remove
distortions caused by terrain and can be used for cartographic mapping and
visualization purposes. The image processing eliminates the perspective effect
on the ground (not on buildings), restoring the geometry of a vertical shot.
Additionally, a correction is made to the sun angle in each image to account
for differences in latitude and time of acquisition. The PlanetScope tiles are
orthorectified using GCPs and fine DEMs (30 m to 90 m posting) to less than 10
m RMSE positional accuracy. Total cloud cover of the mosaic product is 0.23%.
The ISO 19115 standard metadata record for this service and further individual
epoch mosaic product metadata information is available from the Queensland
Spatial Catalogue (QSpatial). If you would like to receive updates for new
